Trojan / Dropper.Gen2 in Intel drivers

After having some problems with my new L502x's HDMI port, I decided to format the hard drive and proceed with a fresh install, downloading the drivers I want directly from Dell's site.

What is my surprise when I finish installing the drivers and I move on with the Applications. The free version of Avira Antivirus detected the trojan Dropper.Gen2 in a weird folder: Intel Bluetooth's!

I am attaching a screenshot so you can run a scan on that folder and find out if I am the unlucky one, or maybe it's just a false alarm. I decided to "Ignore" the 4 assumpted detected trojans, but I will move them into quarantine if you find no viruses in that folder.

Cheers!

Reply 1 : Trojan / Dropper.Gen2 in Intel drivers

If you downloaded the drivers directly from Dell's site... it is a false alarm.

Reply 2 : Trojan / Dropper.Gen2 in Intel drivers

Personally, I would remove all of those and make sure the scan shows up clean. Then either download them again from Dell or the manufacturer (whichever has latest version).

Reply 3 : Trojan / Dropper.Gen2 in Intel drivers

Avira is notorious for false positives.

Reply 4 : Trojan / Dropper.Gen2 in Intel drivers

I got the same for the intel bluetooth drivers using AVG... didn't even do a fresh install yet, it was just the first avg scan I ran. Then on the 2nd I was up to 15 trojans :/

Probably fake positive.

Is is possible to upgrade your f series from a standard to a backlit keyboard DIY|?

I have been looking everywhere for confirmation on this please, someone in the know, canI do this? I can order a backlit keyboard on ebay for cheap but as for drivers and hardware match ups I don't know. Many F series models are missing this handy option. I thought there would be more interest in this mod.

I see user Gandalf_the_grey has a EU model with +US backlit keyboard in his signature . Does this mean he has done this mod?

I have a VPCF136FD/B bought I Canada.

It is absolutely possible:

Reply 2 : Is is possible to upgrade your f series from a standard to a backlit keyboard DIY|?

Thanks, I did find this great DIY article but I am more worried about when I actually install the backlit keyboard will it fuction properly on my f series (VPCF136FD/B)? As you may know my unit does not come with this option and as a result there are no utilites to control the back lighting as found in the example you have recommended. So to be specific is there a special bois or application I will have to install or tweak to get the backlit keyboard to work or will the laptop bois recognize the new hardware and make it work automatically. It would only take one incompatibility to make the new keyboard an official Sony paperweight. By the way I hate this bilingual keyboard in general have you seen the left shift key and the enter button layout? Just not right. Anyway I hope you might be able to shed some light. Thanks Again.

Reply 3 : Is is possible to upgrade your f series from a standard to a backlit keyboard DIY|?

it should work fine upon installation.

You may need to remap certain keys though. That should not be an issue.

~VX2S Owners' Lounge~

Hello to all Asus VX2S enthusiasts

Well, sorry I don't own it yet but I've been looking for any info about this model for almost 5 months (since I saw the VX2 in Hong Kong).

I suggest that all VX2S owners and people with real interest in this model write down here their findings, appreciation, problems, and post pictures, links, reviews, ...

So far, I can only come up with this specifications page (similar page for all their markets as far as I know: Asia, Americas, ...)

Asus UK info page for the VX2S:

http://uk.asus.com/products4.aspx?mo...25&l3=309&l4=0

I personally want to know before purchasing this notebook in the UK:
 • Is the built-in 200GB hard-drive either 5400RPM or 7200RPM? What brand and model?
 • It apparently comes with a Blu-Ray drive, is there any mention on the packaging of a "Ultimate package" as marketed by Asus?
 • Still about this so called "Ultimate package", does the Yellow and Black models sold in the UK come with the docking station (also known as "Power Station")?
 • Does the box contain a second battery for the DVD bay as the VX2 used to have in the Asia (Taiwan, Hong Kong)?
 • Any difference in the supplied accessories between the VX2S-AK001G and VX2S-AK002G?

Thanks to anybody who can make this thread alive, and especially answer these questions.

Bye for now

Oxyd

Hello

I ordered a vx2s with AK027G reference, it's supposed to be the reference of the "ultimate package" for France.

If I don't forget, i'll answer to your questions, but I can't be 100% sure that the packages for france and UK are identical. Maybe you should contact asus UK ?

Reply 2 : ~VX2S Owners' Lounge~

does anyone on this forum have an VX2s? I know due to its price not that many people will buy it, but no one has one at all??

the delivery date for my vx2s has been changed to Saturday.

How much did you pay for the Ultimate Package in France?

aaarrrrrhhhgg..... I've just received a confirmation email from the reseller to confirm delivery date, but they got the wrong model number on the order!!! on the email it listed the previous none santa rosa VX2 model.

I really wish Asus UK and the reseller can pull their fingers out and get their act together!

it's the first time I bought an Asus laptop and the experience has not been a pleasant one so far.... and that's before I got my laptop

At the time of writing, I know that AsusLaptop have some unit left. I do also know that they contain the docking station, so this can be considered as the Ultimate Package, for almost the same price as the previous VX2... Though I'm not sure if their retail price is the right one for this particular item... it looks cheap compared to other sites.

Good luck

Reply 6 : ~VX2S Owners' Lounge~

I ordered my VX2s after the specs has been confirmed in the 'ultimate package'

blueray+docking station etc... so I know exactly what I've ordered.

I sincerely hope it was just a smiple typo, otherwise I will be asking for a full refund, I will not mention the resellers name for now, so they have a last chance to get it right. I will phone them first thing tomorrow to ask what they are playing at. and I will let you know how I got on later...

Don't get me wrong, I'm not 100% sure that this is what's called "ultimate package". Here we have 4 references for vx2s (2 per colour)

VX2S-AK007G and VX2S-AK008G

VX2S-AK025G and VX2S-AK027G at a higher price, so supposedly being that "ultimate package"

I believe that the contents and specs of packages differ amongst countries, so don't take anything for granted.

The price for the VX2S-AK027G was 2510 euro vat included (that's a good price, less expensive than the normal package in other stores !). www.1000ordi.fr (m not affiliated or whatever)

Core i7-2720QM or Core i5-560M which one will produce more heat.

Hi,

I have Dell XPS 15 L501X with Core i5-560M.

I ordered L502X Core i7-2720QM and planning to return L501X.

But if the L502X Core i7-2720QM produces more heat then i will cancel the order.

Please advise.

Reply 1 : Core i7-2720QM or Core i5-560M which one will produce more heat.

Clearly the quad core i7 will produce substantially more heat especially under load. To be more specific, the i7-2720QM is rated at 45 watts vs the 35 watts of the i5-560M. I have the i5-460M with my L501x and watching HD videos already makes the left side slightly warm. Playing games like SC2 becomes much warmer. I can only imagine how uncomfortably warm it will become when using the 2720QM.

I thought heat depends on Lithography:

Since the i7 740 had Lithography 45 nm

and i7-2720QM has Lithography 32 nm

And what is TJUNCTION.

Please fill me in with complete knowledge.

Reply 3 : Core i7-2720QM or Core i5-560M which one will produce more heat.

While several factors come into play when determining heat emissions, I would imagine that the number of transistors would be the most prominent factor given all else equal. Comparing the ~5.59 million transistors used in the Nehalem i5s to the ~1 billion used in the i7-2720QM, I would imagine heat levels would be substantially higher. Perhaps there is a computer engineer on this board who can further elaborate on this inquiry?

Reply 4 : Core i7-2720QM or Core i5-560M which one will produce more heat.

More cores do not equal higher heat emission when executing the same task, in fact, the sandy bridge is more efficient.

What does this mean? When executing the same moderately heavy task, in the end the i5-560m will emit more heat under load.

Idle is an completely diferent story, but i heard the sandy bridge quadcores have more efficient power gating features than the previous generation.

So exactly through what mechanism does the Sandy Bridge series manage to achieve more efficiency in terms of heat emission?

Reply 6 : Core i7-2720QM or Core i5-560M which one will produce more heat.

More cores don't, but a higher TDP does, and the i7 SB still has higher TDP than i5 duals.

If sandy bridge is twice as fast and emits twice as much heat at full speed, does it matter in the end? Not at all.

It simply doesn't matter if you use 50watts of power in 10 seconds, of 500 watts of power during 1 second. The heat emmissions are the same.

Reply 8 : Core i7-2720QM or Core i5-560M which one will produce more heat.

The i7-2720QM will be hotter under a full load than the i5-560M.

Take a look at the TDP- 45 Watts vs 35 Watts, both numbers chosen by the same manufacturer, Intel. The TDP isn't the maximum wattage of the processor, but rather the amount of heat that Intel recommends that the cooling system can dissipate.

As far as idle temperatures and "light loads" like web browsing go, I don't know (but I'd bet the Quad runs hotter). Also, the same "full load" on the dual-core processor isn't going to be a full load on the quad-core processor, so it's tricky. You'll probably have to find a review site that includes temperatures.

And TJunction is the maximum temperature the processor can handle before it Throttles (lowers performance to cool down), although Dell can and will make this number lower.

Reply 9 : Core i7-2720QM or Core i5-560M which one will produce more heat.

In fact the Tjunction refers to the maximum temperature before the system shuts down and had noting to do whit the temperature it stats throttling.

i7-740QM vs i7-2630QM

So I realised that Amazon won't sell the G73SW-XA1 into Canada. So i'm looking at amazon.ca's G73JW-A1, and notice a different processor. What are the differences? Will the i7-2630QM improve gameplay?

Also I heard the i7-2630QM has integrated graphics, is that true?

On the JW how is the touchpad buttons? As its one button

Reply 1 : i7-740QM vs i7-2630QM

I think before you decide anything you should make some comparisons, there may be other computers that will suit your needs/budget/performance better. But of course first we need to know what your budget is, and what kind of computer you are looking for? gaming, entertainment etc?

Reply 2 : i7-740QM vs i7-2630QM

Gaming, budget is around 1500-1600

Reply 3 : i7-740QM vs i7-2630QM

Reply 5 : i7-740QM vs i7-2630QM

Reply 6 : i7-740QM vs i7-2630QM

is your question serious, does it really look like hes trolling?

Reply 7 : i7-740QM vs i7-2630QM

Yea, this is serious.

Reply 8 : i7-740QM vs i7-2630QM

Hmmm, to tell you the truth you made a pretty good choice for your budget and the size of computer you want. I wouldn't really recommend buying it off amazon though as I'm sure you would want a warranty thats longer than the 30 days they give you or whatever. Take a look at Gaming Laptops - XOTIC PC - Gaming Notebooks - Custom Laptops - Custom Notebooks, they carry it as well, and I know for a fact their warranties are great. plus gives you a little customization if you so choose. as for the processor, the I7's are more than powerful enough, so it really wont affect your gameplay much at all, if any. As for the touchpad I'm not really sure about how that would be on ASUS... but my alienwares is also a single button and I haven't had any trouble, besides if you really want to play games on your laptop your going to be using an externam mouse anyway.

G73JH plastic squeaking

the title says it all

when i press these buttons my plastic squeaks around F1,F2,F3,F4,F5,F6 but from F7 seems to be less squeaky

the other buttons seems to be alright

almost i never press those buttons but when i press them i can hear the sound and it is annoying

can i fix this somehow ?

how reachable is the front part fom opening(i've never opened my G73JH)

is there a way to fix this without opening?

Reply 1 : G73JH plastic squeaking

Sounds like one of the keyboard contacts is not holding it in place. At the top of the keyboard you have 5 flathead screwdriver shaped holes that you can push a thin flathead into one at a time holding the keyboard underneith as you do this and the top will pop up.

You might have something underneith that is causing it although the annoying sticky tape they use near middle of the keyboard to hold it on should prevent any movement but wont help the top of it.

I also found that removing the pieces of sticky tape that are stuck all around the touchpad film stopped all my iratic mouse problems too. Worth ripping her apart to fix a few things.

Reply 2 : G73JH plastic squeaking

hmm i actually pressed it with pressure and now the buttons don't squeak (probably temporary)

maybe this could be from the heat (sun) that the plastic doesn't lay like it should

is there any tutorial for this

YouTube - BTOtech.com | G73Jh & G73Jw Disassembly Take Apart G73 g73jw service manual

Shows you the Biotech disassembly and it starts with removing the keyboard.

The keyboard does bend easily so it may just be slightly out of shape and why its squeaking be warned you can cause damage when removing it cause of the god awful tape that just will not budge be very gentle when pulling it up to not bend the keyboard or tear the cables. It could just have come loose of the double sided tape putting pressure on it probably fixed it.

Reply 4 : G73JH plastic squeaking

i have pushed only the first hole and above ESC and reatached it

so i will see for now but i think that is OK

i don't like the plastic on the top either

i feel like my laptop is falling apart (but that is the design probably)

I was worried as I pulled up the keyboard when I did my repasting as I had read a lot of people had bent the keyboard and after whipping it out I noticed why because it is very flimsy.

You can pop all 5 of the clips up this wont do anything to it just the sticky tape lower down is a knightmare because you dont know if the foil film is ripping or the double sided tape but it is the tape

Reply 6 : G73JH plastic squeaking

but those clips are so hard to take out

i mean i was only able to press the first one and tryed the second one but i couldn't get it ... but only the first clip made it

have you considered making the keyboard light mod

They are a little tricky I used a really thin flathead and just kept flicking it upwards from the bottom once the first one is up you need to put your fingers under the corner and gentle lift as you do the other clips.

Im considering it as im not to fond of the white light its a little boring and as I have my G73 at an angle on a cooler you can see the white lines as well.

Well Its Official...

My M1330 is completely dead...

Replacement warranty still effective. Will Dell replace with another M1330 or replace with XPS15 or something else?

Reply 1 : My M1330 is completely dead...

Unless a) the machine is somehow destroyed (ie you're getting this fixed under complete care) or b) you've had the machine serviced multiple times already, you're probably just going to get your M1330 fixed.

Reply 2 : My M1330 is completely dead...

Yup to the above. You might not even get an XPS replacement, some people were offered normal Studio laptops for M1330/M1530. Call up Dell and find out your options!

First define "dead". Do you have the Nvidia GPU? If so has it failed/been replaced before? What's the machine doing/not doing?

Correct way of installing and running apps in s5620 (monte)

I have an application in JAR (and JAD) format.
I copied these files to the mobile file system, and then clicked them via the phone, which got them installed.

The question is how should I run them after they have been installed? If I click on the files again, then it asks me again if I want to install it, and so it re-installs the application whenever I want to run it.

Is it possible to create a "shortcut" on the main screen for that application? If not what is the correct way to do run it?

Reply 1 : Correct way of installing and running apps in s5620 (monte)

What mobile OS you running and what carrier, Iknow some carriers block installation of apps etc unless you get it from them, sometimes the phone doesn't let you do it. Also are you sure that the file is for your mobileOS . If it installed correctly you should be able to find the shortcut where the rest of your apps or games are.

Reply 2 : Correct way of installing and running apps in s5620 (monte)

Hi, I'm sure the application was installed, since I could run it fine.
The problem is that after it is installed, I cannot find the "shortcut" to it anywhere...
How do I check what is my mobile OS ?

Reply 3 : Correct way of installing and running apps in s5620 (monte)

I don't have one so I don't know exactly where to find the shortcut.

where did you get the app and is this the normal way apps are installed?

Must be a samsung OS ? It lists TOUCHWIZ as OS , should be able to find out in one of the menus.

If you didn't get the app through a "usual" means it's likely incompatible based on any # of reasons.

I wrote this application. Generally you should be able to applications which aren't necessarily downloaded. You can copy your application to the phone and it should work (unless of course there are bugs in the app).

RMA Fun

Hello everyone,

So I get my G73jh back from repair on 3-17, (from Jeffersonville, IN) fire it up and I am greeted with this message:

Intel Anti Theft Technology 2.0 lock due to: Platform Attack Detected

Time left to enter password: 3595 second

Please select one of the following for platform recovery:

1 - User Password

2 - Server Token Password

I then call up customer service, and after jumping through all the usual hoops, the rep says that I have been sent the wrong laptop. So he says it will be escalated and that I will be contacted about what to do next. This afternoon I get an email that states: "Due to problem unit you were sent replacement unit with different serial number with extra 3 months warranty. As a onetime courtesy, this is not covered or provided under warranty guidelines. Thank you"

So, apparently now there was no mixup. I was just sent a replacement. Of course the email said nothing at all about the fact that I can't get past the password screen above, which is the whole reason I called in the first place. So I call again and have to explain everything, again, and jump through hoops, again. (turn off, press f9, f2, etc.) I explain the message above in detail to the guy, so he gives me a few, what he calls "Bios passwords". None of them work however so he says he will escalate the issue (yay ) and i will be contacted within 24 hours.

I'm curious, is that message actually asking for a bios password? Or is it something else entirely?

Sorry for the long message, I was just curious if anyone has experienced something similar, as I haven't been able to find anything similar in my searching. I fully expect that I'm going to have to ship it back, and I'm sure they will pin the shipping on me.

Reply 1 : RMA Fun

Contact Trinity Sparks or an Asus executive/president e-mail.

That's how I got a refund for my 6 week+ RMA.

That worthless call center with uneducated bums will get you nowhere. I know, because I spent about 15-20 hours over the course of 6 weeks trying to get info on my RMA.

At least you'll be able to reach an assistant of the higher ups, which can forward your e-mail to someone with power that can make magic happen.

I personally dealt with a "Tom" from Texas (?) in order to get my refund cheque, but I'm sure anyone around his level will personally handle it.

Another idea is to contact your reseller since they too have power.

Yes, I disonnected, and reconnected the power cord in the back of the TV. I also removed the plug from the outlet it was in, and plugged it into the other outlets on the power strip that are working for the other components. But the TV still won't turn on.

Reply 3 : TV won't turn on

It sounds like it may be your power supply.

Ouch. Hopefully that can be fixed. I'm glad it's still under warranty. Thanks for your help!

So I left the power cord in and the power light kept clicking back and forth until after about 5 minutes, it turned on.

So i leave the TV on overnight. I finaly got the tech to come back out. He comes out, turns it off and on over and over and the tv WORKS PERFECTLY.

This morning, ITS HAPPENING ALL OVER AGAIN. THE NEXT DAY. This time, the power light lights up and clicks sporadicaly. The light never does that blinking thing before the TV turns on. It just goes solid one click, and off the next click. I'VE NEVER PHYSICALLY TOUCHED THE TV SINCE THE REPAIR GUY. I used the remote power button this morning.

I'M SO SICK OF IT!. I've totaly lost my faith in Samsung!

OK have you notice this trend especialy with all the samsung tv,please forgive me but i dont mean to offend anyone but samsung reminds me of toyota i think that the company needs to reconsider going into something other than making tv and electrical products if samsung made the tv and cant firure out the problem then i think it would be wise for consumer not to buy any samsung products.

Had same problem with my Samsung LN46A650. Wouldn't turn on 18 months after I gave them $1900. That's about $105/month for a television.
Samsung didn't care, despite the fact that it's happening to a lot of people, so I joined this class-action lawsuit because I have no other recourse.

If you want it fixed you get it fixed. Feeding the lawyers and going after the wrong company or not all of them is a shame. Read above and why isn't the maker of the capacitors in the suit?

The fix is very cheap if you do your own work.

Hi, I have the same TV with the identical problem. Just happened this morning. Do you have an update as to what your problem turned out to be or the solution??

Thanks!

Reply 14 : TV won't turn on

Yes. It was the Power Supply (inside the TV). Took 4 weeks for Samsung to get someone here (Samsung kept switching the repair company), and about 20 minutes for the guy to fix it. Best of luck!

Reply 15 : TV won't turn on

Turned out my issue was the same as yours - power supply module. Quick swap over and it works great again. Only problem was it took 5 weeks to get the part into my house for the 20 min fix.

Reply 16 : TV won't turn on

I just bought a PN50B860 3 months ago and this past Saturday it went completely black. TV will still "turn on" by making it's initial chime but will not "click", LED power light will not come on, and no OSD/input will display. IMMEDIATELY, I hopped on Samsung's site and submitted a service ticket. Got a call from a local Greenville, SC repair center this morning and they are coming out Thursday. I hope it's a bad PSU or something simple to fix. Haven't bought a new TV in 10 years. Spent $200 on a 27" CRT that still works today...spent $2000 on a new TV that craps out after 3 months. I hope Samsung stands behind their products and gets this fixed quickly.

Hey there - wild4trout -

I'm wondering if you had a similar problem to me - it seems like this thread was hijacked and everyone's talking about a clicking noise and the power light blinking, but I noticed that you didn't mention either of these. I'm having a similar problem to you, I have the Samsung 50" FP-T5084, and it just stopped turning on. A few days ago we noticed that the shut-down noise had stopped, but we ignored it. Last night, the TV just shut off and would not turn back on. I don't have a clicking noise, I don't have the red light, etc. Are these the symptoms you experienced? I'm noticing two parallel issues with Samsung HDTV's not turning on, and since my TV doesn't even have enough juice to make the light blink, I'm assuming its power supply is shot.

You said you did replace your power supply; do you mind me asking where you ordered it from? I'm anxious to get the nicest TV in the house back in working order...

Thanks!

Reply 18 : TV won't turn on

Sounds like Samsung should work on this issue. My wife was watching TV last night on this same model and this identical thing happened. She said she heard a crackle sound and then nothing. TV is DEAD.....will not turn on....not even the red power light. I have been reading today and it seems like some people have to switch out the entire power board, while others just had to replace a fuse. I am amazed that SO MANY people have had issues with their TVs just dying like this.

I also can't remember if we got the TV from Circuit City or Best Buy and whether or not we got a "performance plan." I guess we should just have a technician come out. The TV is no longer under the manufacturer's warranty....we have had the TV over 2 years.

Any suggestions?

Reply 19 : TV won't turn on

Love this thread.
The Samsung customers here are actually solving the problem themselves and the Samsung HD Tech just posts, "Sorry to hear that," "You may need to call service," and "Keep me posted!"

Anyway, my 42" LCD crapped out with the clicking noise about a month ago and I replaced the faulty capacitors that shipped with the unit, despite never having used a soldering iron in my life. Unfortunately it died again this morning. No clicking, just dead. Guess I'll be cracking it open again to see if I can fix what Samsung won't.

The capacitor fix that's been succesdful for many is described in this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mm51C_RDIZE

and elsewhere in this thread.

Good luck.

Same model #, same problem happened two days ago. This is ridiculous!

Reply 21 : TV won't turn on

I have the exact same issue. I called best buy today to see if my service plan was still valid. I got the TV 1 1/2 years ago and I got the 3 year and I have to say I am relieved. They are sending a tech out tommorrow to fix it and they are having him bring a new TV (upgrade) incase it is toast. I love that place!

Reply 22 : TV won't turn on

My Samsung (along with thousands of other people) started doing the same thing....won't turn on.
I swapped my power supply out and there was no change. I checked my wall outlet and tried different power strips.
I also bought a LED monitor from Samsung that had the same problem and THEY couldn't even figure out how to fix it!
My advice to EVERYONE on this site that has problems with their Samsung products is Google class action lawsuits against Samsung and let's get our money back so that we can buy products that last longer than two years!

Purchased the 50" Samsung plasma Model FP-T5084 in 2007, just past the warranty and on the first Sunday of football season, tv powered off on own and would not turn back on. Looking online seems like this is a very common problem although when I called Samsung, they said it was not. They referred me to a service center saying that I would be contacted in 2 days for a technician. Needless to say, football Sunday can not wait. I called a local repair tech, he came out and resolved the problem for $150- a blown fuse- said I was lucky. I am sure the Samsung repair tech would have charged more and made me wait longer. Regardless after less than 3 years (conveniently right after warranty expired) the tv should not have issues. I have a Panasonic and a Sony which are older and have not had any issues to date. Go with a local repair person and ask them to check the fuse first.

hi,i have the same problem with my tv HP-T5054 and i don't know how much is to fix it?please....

Reply 25 : TV won't turn on

Samsung has a major problem with their power supply. They have 3 capacitors (1000uF/10V) that blow up and die. This happens just AFTER the warranty! Their customer service denies this but if you run a search on youtube Samsung power supply there are a few videos that shows you how to do the repair step by step. I used http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mm51C_RDIZE&feature=related this video and fixed mine. I called their customer service before fixing my TV and they denied there is such a known problem (what a joke) and offered to set up a service call at my expense. Look at the number of people views for all these repair videos and it is above few hundred thousand. Amazing number for a problem that doesnt exist!! Samsung should be ashamed to continue using these caps even after they found out about the problem. The difference in the cost would have been about 20C. I wish some one would take a class action against them.

I've only had the TV for little over a year. This seems to be a reoccurring problem with very many people could it be a faulty part. If so could I get My TV fixed for free.

It doesnt turn on anymore - just clicks away!! But would this YOU TUBE VIDEO be good for LCD, i noticed the guy has a plasma and not an LCD, is the power supply inside the tv similar or the same to change this to make it work again!??! tHANKS FOR THE HELP

I also have a samsung plasma 42 inch for 4 years and never had a problem yet...thank god!

Reply 28 : TV won't turn on

I also seem to be having the same problem as many of the others have had. My tv was doing the click noise for about two weeks when I finally unplugged it as the manual said to somewhat reset itself and it appeared to fix the problem. Recently I went on vacation for a week and came back to my tv doing absolutely nothing. I can only gather that it is the same problem as everyone else, having tried different outlets and re-plugging in the power cord to the back of the tv. With that being said I have had my tv for about a year and a half, is there any hope of samsung fixing this product for me without charge or am I just screwed. I also have a 32" LCD samsung I purchased 2 months ago. Are there any problems with these models having the same problem as the plasma?
I must say that I am a consumer that believes in buying an American product and if that is hard to do (as the case with tv's it seems) I generally try to find products with good quality. This is what I believed I was doing when I purchased a Samsung but it appears that its just another mass produced piece of crap for overseas. Having read the previous post as well as my own experience I would certainly hope that the manufacturer would do something about this wide spread problem, however would still not recommend or buy another samsung.

Reply 29 : TV won't turn on

My 40" LCD just began clicking several times when turning on after Tech replaced "the panel" last week. This morning it keeps clicking and will not turn on at all. I've swapped to a known working power outlet, but no change. I can unplug it for 10 mins, plug it in, and it just starts clicking before i use the power button.

Is any part of the power button or power supply replaced as part of "the panel"? My room mate watched the tech replace the panel and says that he replaced just about everything but the plastic outter part.

I called NISI this morning, but they didn't have an answer on "what they're going to do about it" until the tech gets back to the office.

I'm a little upset now because i reported the problem with the picture on 12/31/08 and it took them alsmost a month to fix that.. Now, its COMPLETELY inoperable. I would think NISI would do something RIGHT AWAY about it. This is a major purchase, its only been a year and is the only TV i have.

Thanks for any input!

I have a T60 1.66 GHz core 2 duo, 3 GB ram, 80 GB Intel x25-m SSD and Win 7 Pro-64. I mostly run Firefox w/multi-tabs and Outlook 2007 in background. It is getting a bit slow right now. I like to replace it while my T60 is worth a little bit. Is T500 (P9400 or i5) or T510 a better deal? I'm selling my T60 for $ 380 and like to add 250 out of my pocket towards my new system. And does dedicated graphics make any difference to me? I can get a brand new T510 for 1064$ including 3yr warranty/taxes/delivery off Lenovo website but i don't want to spend 700 out of my pocket. I know the i5 Sandy Bridge is coming so do you think the old T510 will have a price drop further?

Reply 1 : Need advice new thinkpad

Hey,

You should consider the following but please do not blame me later on ><

Current Laptop

It could be getting "slower" because of software you are not using or data just piling in. You should defragment your harddrive or reinstall ur OS after making a backup of ur current files you need. OR your SSD might not support (something starts with a T, i cant think of it right now) which reduces the SSD speed and preformance.

The reason I recommend this is because you do not run anything intense and this might save you some cash.

New laptop

Really depends on your needs. If you only intend to surf the web, you do not need a dedicated graphics card (only used for gaming or other intensive 3d rendering and processes). You will/should notice a difference between a core 2 duo and a core i5 but I do not think you will notice it much for just outlook and Firefox . Therefore, i suggest you buy the cheaper option. Also, I suggest you fill out one of those FAQ buying computers.

Deals

If you went to the lenovo online store 2 days ago, you could have gotten a lot of deals (there still are some ecoupons like a google code for 10% off.

Reply 2 : Need advice new thinkpad

I agree with ComputerNewb, try cleaning up your T60 first. I'm not sure, but I think SSDs are not supposed to be defragged.

Another thing you could try is upgrading the CPU. Check here for compatible CPUs: forum.thinkpads.com • View topic - T60 motherboard info & notes

Correct, SSDs are different from HDDs since they can randomly access data on the flash memory rather sequentially on a rotating drive. Therefore there isnt any need to defrag a SSD as you be putting more unnecessary wear on it.

Just a note, how many services are you running on your system (check the Task Manager)? The specifications you provided us should be more than adequate for a general web browsing session, do you by chance watch HD videos online as that can strain the CPU (especially those without SSE4 instructions).

Defragmentation is a Windows defect that has been glorified into a user-initiated maintenance feature! On an OS (such as Unix) with a high-quality file system, defrag is never necessary, even for HDD: free blocks are managed intelligently, on the fly, by the system.

Reply 5 : Need advice new thinkpad

Try a Secure Erase on a SSD. You can gain back write performance by doing so but you will lose everything on the drive (doh).

Reply 6 : Need advice new thinkpad

I'd definitely try a complete refresh of your drive and possibly a CPU upgrade(T7600 is the most powerful supported by your system).

If you're really itching for a replacement system, the T500 is a pretty good choice, I think. The CPUs are significantly more powerful(using Passmark scores the base P8400 in the T500 is a little more powerful than the T7600), they run much cooler(from personal experience with a T60p), and if you need graphics performance the switchable ATI HD3650 is about four times as powerful as the ATI X1400 in the T60. As a plus, the T500 uses the same batteries as the T60, so if you have extras you can still use them. If you look hard enough you can find a T500 with decent specs for a good price; I paid $500 for mine back in October.

Recovering lost contacts after syncing with iTunes

I recently bought an iPhone 3g.
I had around 250 contacts on the phone.
However, after syncing with iTunes, I appear to have lost almost all of my contacts and need to know how to retrieve them. I have read that iTunes backs up your iPhone when you first connect but I can't fin the file/folder.
I am desperate to retrieve my lost phone numbers etc. - can anyone help?

I can't seem to find itunes backup file anywhere.. it's so frustrating that you have to constantly sit and watch every move itunes makes while sync's... EEeerr!!! I lost over 200 contacts!! Please help!

Thanks for this. However, when I try to add the folder to my Address book it says 'No cards found' - 'No importable cards were found.'
Is there a way for me to convert the information contained in the Backup folder to v-cards and then iport them or is there another way?

Reply 5 : Recovering lost contacts after syncing with iTunes

I may not be able to help with your current problem, but I can definitely help prevent it from occuring in the future.

If you don't have a gmail account, sign up for one. Then put all your contacts into your gmail. Google sync allows you to have your calendar, contacts, and email all sync to your phone. Google is one of the most reliable companies on earth and your contacts will be stored with them. I buy a new iPhone every time it is updated and all I do is enter my info into the phone and everything is populated for me.

Beyond that, if you like using a calendar, your gmail calendar and your phone calendar sync. If you add, change, or remove an event on one it does the same thing on the other. This will un-complicate your life.

Just watch this video and enjoy! http://www.google.com/mobile/sync/

What is the actual depth of the E6410

Could somebody tell me (by measuring), what is the actual physical depth of the E6410?

I visited a local university bookstore yesterday and saw they had both Lenovo and Dell business models on display. I couldn't resist comparing the sizes by placing laptops on top of each other

I was quite surprised to see the E6410 and T510 had near identical depths (front to back). The batteries were removed in these display models, so that does not include the battery.

Looking at the specs on notebookcheck, here is the reported depths.

E6410: 238mm

T510: 279mm

According to the specs, the E6410 is 4cm smaller. But this was not what I saw yesterday. Does the E6410 measurements include the silver block that protrudes from the back? Does the T510 measurement include the bigger battery that sticks out the back?

What's going on? Did I just make a mistake when I lined up the laptops on top of each other yesterday?

The E6410 depth spec is probably for the 6-cell battery. The 9-cell sticks out the back a bit.

Do Sony Vaio Z noise cancelling headphones work on any Vaio Z

I've been given a VPC-Z13Z9E to replace my original VPC-Z11 CTO that stopped working.

While the Z13Z9E doesn't come with noise cancelling headphones, I had assumed that the ones that came with my CTO would work with the new PC, but they don't seem to: i.e. the noise cancelling feature doesn't work. I would have thought that the problem is with a driver setting, but I can see that the noise cancelling program is installed (though I notice the driver doesn't add it to the startup programs) and it does nothing when I try to run it, so maybe there is a difference in hardware.

Has anyone managed to get a Vaio Z (VPC) which didn't come with the headphones to work with the Vaio Z noise cancelling headphones? If so, was there trick to do it?

Many Thanks!

Anti-Glare LED-backlit with Premium Panel Guarantee

I see that even the 14" new Dell Latitudes has an option for a 1600x900 Anti-Glare LED-backlit with Premium Panel Guarantee, does this mean that we finally can get a good screen on a 14", or is it just Dell marketing?

The 14.0" 1600x900 display for the E6420 has the same specs as the 14.1" 1440x900 display optional on the E6400/E6410. The display on my E6400 is described as- " 14.1" UltraSharp WXGA+(1440x900) Anti-Glare LED with Premium Panel Guarantee" and I've been VERY pleased with it! Despite more than two years of heavy use, the display still looks as good as it did new!

Samsung tv, audio out not working

My problem is, I can't get the "Audio out" to work. I hooked up an amplifier and speakers (which I tested) but I don't get any sound. There is a very slight "pop" when I turn the amp's power switch on. If I turn the gain on the amp all the way up, I can hear a very slight sound , but not enough to understand the voices. I have everything hooked up the way the manual instructs. Thank you for any help you can supply.

There are 4 model numbers on the manual cover, I don't know how to determine which mine is. It is either TX-P2675WH, TX-PP3075WH, TX-P2775H OR TX-P3275H.
The Samsung web site has a feature, "find my model number" but I can't get it to work.
Thanks for getting back to me.

Anyone has had this problem?

As far as I know when the battery is charging the battery's icon is moving up & down as sign of charging. Now it does only a few seconds when plug the adapter, after a few seconds it stops.

The charging is working fine but why is not moving the icon anymore?

business on the go, aluminum build up to 700$ ?

Hello I am looking for a nice business on the go solution with an aluminum solid build and 13-14" screens.

Up to 700$. I am looking at the Vostro v13, how good is it for the price ? is it a very sturdy machine ?

Reply 1 : business on the go, aluminum build up to 700$ ?

I have the Latitude equivalent, and it is a solid machine. I would pick up the Vostro V130 with the ULV Core i series processors if you want a bit more kick, but other than that the ULV Core 2 are enough for general tasks.

Battery life isn't great. Keyboard is the new mushy type found on newer Latitudes, you get used to it quick. You can also see my review in my sig.

Reply 2 : business on the go, aluminum build up to 700$ ?

Thanks !

Which one of these suggested abo e have the most solid build ?

Re the vostro, is the lid and palm rest aluminum ? Is there flex to the keyboard ?

Reply 3 : business on the go, aluminum build up to 700$ ?

I mean the Vostro V130, V13 and Latitude 13 are practically all the same chassis. I have used all and they were all the same.

The palmrest is plastic, and the LCD bezel is plastic as well, though everything is matte. I did not find keyboard flex on mine, there isn't much room underneath for keyboard flex lol.

Reply 4 : business on the go, aluminum build up to 700$ ?

Dell doesn't make a laptop built of a significant amount of aluminum. The main chassis V13 and Latitude 13 should primarily be some sort of magnesium alloy. Still a sturdy build as far as these things go, but if you must have aluminum for whatever odd reason, you're pretty much limited to an HP Envy or MBP/MBA.

Go for the E6410. Yes you can get one for well under $700. Unlike these subnotebooks, you get a full power processor and full sized battery.

How long do you plan to keep your VAIO Z?

the last SZ i had - i kept it for close to 4 years and sold it for good price (almost 20% of my purchase price).

Any advice on when would be a good time to sell if resale value is important to you?

Thanks in advance.

Reply 1 : How long do you plan to keep your VAIO Z?

I won't tell you how often I get a new notebook

Reply 2 : How long do you plan to keep your VAIO Z?

I will keep it until the new Z comes out.

Reply 3 : How long do you plan to keep your VAIO Z?

I don't own a Z, but a FW, but it being my first laptop, I won't sell it, even if or when I get a new one (probably SB), I won't sell that either. I like collecting gadgets and as laptops go, they are a pretty nice gadget :P

Reply 4 : How long do you plan to keep your VAIO Z?

This question can be applied to all the Vaio owners. But yeah, I don't have a Z (it wasn't available yet in Canada when I needed to buy a laptop though it was announced).

I also have a FW. My first laptop, the Toshiba listed in my signature lasted me for 5 years (though the 5th year, I was fighting to keep it alive). The FW, I'm in my 3rd year of ownership and it's running fine (knock on wood). Next year, I'm going to open it up and apply some thermal paste to make it cooler and hopefully extend its life.

I don't usually have an exact time frame for keeping laptops. As long as the OS runs smoothly, I can do my work without problems, and the laptop runs, I don't have plans to buy another one.

Reply 5 : How long do you plan to keep your VAIO Z?

I would say maybe 3 years...if it has a good resale value by then I'd sell it, if not, I'd keep it. I still have my Toshiba Satellite 2180CDT from 1998...it was my dad's and he gave it to me a few years ago. Still runs great, even the 4gb hard drive is in tact.

Reply 6 : How long do you plan to keep your VAIO Z?

I don't have a VPC-Z series notebook but I still have a VGN-Z690 notebook. I'm looking to sell that ASAP if I can even find a buyer for it. It is in like-new condition. I'm just looking to sell it to help fund my purchase of a new 2011 17" MBP.

Reply 7 : How long do you plan to keep your VAIO Z?

I only got my latest Z last year, no plans to replace it anytime soon because there's nothing better available. It's still #1.

Reply 8 : How long do you plan to keep your VAIO Z?

Until Lenovo comes out with a Thinkpad X with a GPU.

Reply 9 : How long do you plan to keep your VAIO Z?

I keep my eyes on Craigslist everyday for any good deals on Vaios. After scanning the past few months for computers, it seems like various Z (Z12 and Z13) are being offered for ~$600 below MSRP. These computers certainly depreciate a lot more than Apple computers. I have no clue how my friend does this, but he buys a new mac, uses it for a few months, then sells it for MORE than he bought it.

But back to the original question, I plan on keeping this as my main computer through college (so ~4 years) and we'll see how well it's held up then. It's been my general experience that things start breaking/ stop working 1 to 2 years into use. I've had this for half a year so far and it's been flawless.

And as someone else said, this is currently still the nicest computer out there.

2nd hdd caddy in dvd bay sata or pata.

I just found these on ebay. If they have already been mentioned, I couldn't find it by searching. They are a hard drive caddy installed in the dvd drive bay. They come in either ide or sata. 12.7mm drive height. They use the standard JAE 50 connector, so they can replace whatever optical drive you have. About $20.00 straight from China. What a simple way to add a huge and cheap sata drive to a older laptop. For all the more I actually use my dvd, I can pull it on my CF 50 and install a 2nd hard drive. Maybe even use one of these instead of the original hard drive. I know they are not shock proof, but it's a great alternative for those of use not really needing the ability to drop our laptop from 3 stories up. Would work really great to swap on those toughbooks with removable optical drives. I make get one just to use for hard drive upgrades. Easy to clone a drive with this.

See DIY: Adding SSD or HDD storage using an optical bay caddy

Reply 2 : 2nd hdd caddy in dvd bay sata or pata.

I saw it as well and it appears that it might work if you replace a CD/DVD drive in the caddy with this, but haven't tried it yet.

Reply 3 : 2nd hdd caddy in dvd bay sata or pata.

I replaced the optical drive in my Macbook with a 500GB drive. It's used as bulk storage that offsets the small size of the 160GB SSD that I use as a boot disk.

It's a useful mod. I use the extra space every day but almost never used the optical drive.

Reply 4 : 2nd hdd caddy in dvd bay sata or pata.

Shawn, that was something similar to the two IDE/SATA adapters I received from Teo but was planning to experiment with extra FDD caddies instead.

Oh well... if it's 20 shipped, maybe I'd give it a go but... it's just plug & play, right? Don't see any mention of master/slave setting!

If you need to hardset slave mode, look at the newmodeus caddy with a master/slave jumper. The ebay caddy has no jumper, and at least on the 2510P won't play nice with another drive set as master. The ebay caddy can be forced to master only. See more details and comparison of these caddies here.

Reply 6 : 2nd hdd caddy in dvd bay sata or pata.

They are $20.00 to $25.00 shipped, so I figure it's cheap enough to experiment with. As far as master / slave setting, pata 2.5 drives have a jumper don't they? At least the IBM and Toshiba drives I have setting here do. Sata may be a problem, but I figured if my CF-50 can be set to boot from the optical drive, then I would be able to put in a huge low cost sata drive and set the bios to boot from it.

I would love to eliminate my floppy drive on my CF 50 and put a hard drive in place of it, but I haven't figured out how yet. Maybe using a cable from a CF 48 Ls 120 super disk? Any help on that one?

Does the caddy / adapter have anything to do with the actual master / slave setting? Isn't that the drive itself? I know you can flash optical drives to change the master / slave setting. On my old HP XE2, it needs both drives to be masters in order to boot from the optical drive or the hard drive.

I am guessing how the bios is programmed may have a bit to do with it. If the bios has 2 channels the both drives being masters is required to boot. If the bios has one channel then you would need one drive to be slave in order for them to play nice. My XE2 obviously had 2 channels and hence needed both drives as master.

Hi Shawn

I tried one of these in my CF-50 it works fine. Ordering form China can take a while. I ordered from here...

Reply 8 : 2nd hdd caddy in dvd bay sata or pata.

Remember If you use one of these in a CF-27/CF-28/CF-29 CD/DVD caddy you will have to solder a jumper at R2 on the PCB board at the back of the caddy to force the drive to master if the computer will not read the drive. Then you will probably have to change the boot order in the bios to boot from your preferred drive. For all you not familiar with a Toughbook, the Toughbook is expecting a CD/DVD drive that is set to master.

Just need to connect pin45+pin47 as shown below to set the ebay caddy to master:

Gobi WWAN card for CF-W8?

The non-WWAN W8 has a simcard slot built into the lid. Does anyone know if there are antennas already in the non-WWAN W8? or which Gobi WWAN card the CF-W8 uses? Is it easy to get to without completely disassembling the laptop?

Reply 1 : Gobi WWAN card for CF-W8?

The WWAN card fits in the lid under the rectangular cover where the SIM card slot is. The antenna are also under that cover. If it is like the CF-T5, open the SIM cover and remove the 2 screws. On the LCD side remove the 2 rubber bumpers at the top of the screen. There is a screw under each bumper. Remove them and then remove the rectangular cover. There are 2 dip switches to set. There is a diagram showing settings for WWAN1, WWAN2 and WWAN3. I don't know the proper setting for the Gobi card but, it shouldn't be hard to figure out.

I installed a Novatel EU860D in my CF-T5. There was no diagram for the switches. I found that either 1-on, 2-off or 1-off, 2-on would show WWAN in the BIOS. I used the Mobilink 3 software from the Panasonic Canada site to install on Windows 7. It also updates the firmware to allow connections at 7.2 mbps. The software is not available on the US site.

Thank you for the info. Also, I got impatient, and removed those screws already. Here are a couple pics:

Wow! These pics are too big!! Must google for resizing tags. Couldn't find working tags, so I just resized the images. Sorry for the enormous images.

Reply 3 : Gobi WWAN card for CF-W8?

If the Gobi2000 works, it also has GPS. Does any one know if any devices are blacklisted in the BIOS?

Reply 4 : Gobi WWAN card for CF-W8?

I believe Panasonic has a habit of disabling GPS in their Gobis.

CAP

Reply 5 : Gobi WWAN card for CF-W8?

Is GPS disabled in their cards or is there just no software that takes advantage of it? I have GPS available in my Panasonic GOBI 2000 as well as the internal GPS but I used the generic WWAN GOBI software from the canada site once I got it activated. It also allows SMS/MMS from the sim.

Thinkpad Edge 420s

How come there isn't much discussion on this?

Where does it fit in the market? Somewhere between a business class T410 and a multimedia Y460p? Is it up against the macbook pro? How will it compare? Why do I have to wait till Spring

Reply 1 : Thinkpad Edge 420s

unconventional thinkpads dont get much discussion or attention here except some animosity because most geeks who frequent forums have more similar standards and needs so they generally fall under the X and T series lineup. The same reason nobody here talks about the W701 much because frankly there is less interest in and owners of it in terms of nerds who come to forums

Reply 2 : Thinkpad Edge 420s

Why is the T410 still the better buy over the E420s with the infinity screen?

Reply 3 : Thinkpad Edge 420s

specs - only the screen is better, the rest there is no competition the edge has the edge

design style - mostly an issue here, since people here only care about ''real'' thinkpads and every once a week they create a thread to complaint about the dilution of the thinkpad brand.

build quality - we still dont know, but since it probably dont use a roll cage, and the use of the island style keyboard, people will invariably complaint of the poor build quality.

matte screen - yes this a good point.

So all in all, Im waiting for this one, if my laptop dies before I would inevitably get the x120e or the dm1z, being the lenovo a better choice in my opinion.

PS: the magnesium/aluminum case is tasty!

Reply 5 : Thinkpad Edge 420s

nevermind the fact we are comparing an old generation and a new generation laptop, but other than the dedicated graphics capability, t410 seems to hold its own. plus, it doesnt use the low voltage processors so it beats the edge in tat

Reply 6 : Thinkpad Edge 420s

So where does the edge beat out the T series? I guess I'll wait to get a sandybridge T series even thou the edge keyboard and chasis look better. Or I could pick up an hp envy 14 which I hear is good.

When is the sandybridge t series out? Worth waiting?

only the e220s will use ULV processors. If you compare different machines with the same cpu yes you will get the about the same performance.

The edge will inevitably have a more powerful gpu, the keyboard is comfort to use as per the review of the x100e and the older edges. The battery life is an unknown at this point but due to it having it integrated the battery is probably going to be larger in capacity.

The price difference is another matter, the edge will be invariably be cheaper as well.

The chassis should be of good quality like the U260, which is one good looking machine.

The main selling points of the edge e420s are:

The chassis is good, and its thin

the powerful gpu

the design

the weight

the price

the cons are

screen (however Im not one to be definitely swayed by higher res, I like color accuracy, constrast) and its still an unknown at this point

the lack of roll cage

the design not being thinkpad (which for me is a plus, there is no need to build a boring work laptop just because you can, try different styles to cater different professionals)

This is comparing to the t400 line.

The envy 14 without the radiance screen is a middle machine with no noticeable qualities. and currently there are no more envy 14 with the radiance, aside the refurbed and the used. The gpu in that model is underclocked, the cooling is average, and the build quality is ok with lots of complaints due to the poor QA of the envy's.

Reply 8 : Thinkpad Edge 420s

I think E420s could be bestseller if they deliver on build quality and battery life.

I have the same opinion, Im pretty much more inclined on this buy than on the vaio SA due to the build quality, the guts are about the same, with the lenovo having the slight advantage due to the use of the msata intel SSD, against the expensive raid 0 (no trim) SSD of the vaio.

samsung ln-s3241d

samsung ln-s3241d about 4 years old.

Working fine, all of a sudden there is no video, only audio. Audio works fine. Pressing menu on the set does not bring up anything - no picture at all.

No precursor to the problem, no wavy lines or bad picture, from good to black in a second.

Reply 1 : samsung ln-s3241d

fudgewapner,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having this problem with LCD.

I'm not sure what can be done at this point for troubleshooting, since nothing appears on the screen. The best recommendation I can offer would be to call the Samsung customer service center at 800-SAMSUNG.

Without being able to look at the unit, it's difficult to offer a diagnosis.

MY SAMSUNG BD-P1600 IS A BRICK -SAMSUNG DOESN'T CARE - READ>

Less than 1 year old (purchase date) I have used this unit maybe 8 times.
I played Toy Story a month ago for my nephews (Blu Ray).
Near movie end audio and video started to whack out, freezing and pixelating. I had to end the movie. Did some research on Samsungs website and the fix was a new firmware update. I installed it from a hard wired line from my router to the blu ray. It completed quickly. I went to use it a few days ago and it does nothing but turn on and the drawer opens and closes. Put in a DVD (reg or blu ray) and it just hangs on loading. I have tried every fix, it is now a waste of money. 3 seperate calls to Samsung support, 1st got disconnected after 22 minutes, 2nd call said send in, we will repair free after I try their fixes.3rd call I am told if fixes did not work to send it in but because the player says 2009 on back it is out of warranty and I have to pay shipping both ways, plus $55 to have it looked at, plus whatever the cost to actually repair it!!!

Google Samsung BD-P1600 and watch the 1000's of complaints all resulting from firmware updates! This is outrageous! They do not stand behind their products at all! Shame on me for buying a 52" TV and a 40" TV both samsung, I am praying nothing happens with those.

Does anyone have any suggestions, it worked before the update!
Thank you for any help you can give me.

Mr_Snooch,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having this issue with your player.

If the update bricked your player, try calling back to see if they'll help with a repair. If not, ask for a transaction number before you end the call, and post it here.

I'll be happy to have a manager in the service department review your situation.

Mr_Snooch,

I'm sorry, but I did check with the service center this morning. They aren't able to look up your information based on a transaction number from chat.

To escalate this, I'll have to request that you call the 800-SAMSUNG phone number, attempt to get repair, and if they aren't able to help out, THEN ask for a transaction number.

Thanks!

As a standard practice, I don't e-mail numbers on the board, and I also request that their e-mails be removed to avoid spam harvesting.

I don't have an estimated time, since I don't have the ability to track or follow service requests (In the US, but especially out of the US region). If you don't hear back in a few days, try calling see if there are any updates to your case number. One of the Samsung customer service center agents would be will assist with that.
